Property Description

Single travelers.......book for 7 nights during autumn and only pay for 5!

Are you a single traveler who wants to:
- Meet travelers and make friends for the rest of your travels, if not life!
- Feel like you are staying at a mate's house
- Find out all the best places in the city
- Get involved with a social and community style place
- Go out at night with your new friends (and staff)?
- Have all the fun!!

If answers are yes.... then read on! If no... Carpe Noctem is probably not for you!

Carpe Noctem (“seize the night”, for those who rightly gave up Latin just after it died) is more of a community than a bed and a room. It is the perfect hangout and base for single travelers, and backpackers who want to meet young and sociable people and be part of a interactive and lively hostel experience as well as maximising the city in day time and seizing the night when the sight-seeing has ended.

We understand backpackers’ gripes with hostels and traveling so with 4 itchy-footed staff members who have all fallen in love with Budapest and want to pass their passion on to others, we have decided upon several things that are important for us:

Orthopaedic mattresses (no more springs or sleepless nights).
Beds made for you when you arrive.
Air Conditioning.
Free Wifi in all rooms and communal areas.
Free Internet use.
24 hour check in.
Free towel hire.
Laundry service available.
Native English speaking, well traveled staff.

But the thing we do best, and the reason our guests tend to extend their stay with us, is because more than anything we want you to have the best time in Budapest as possible by showing you as much as we can about the city, and by facilitating for all our guests to meet each other and make instant friends for the rest of their travels.

We want you to feel as involved as possible so we organise weekly events such as
Monday night dinners where we cook for the hostel
Pub crawls several times a week
Trips as a hostel to the baths, markets, walking tours, wherever the group wants us to take them

If you want to have a mad stay, we can arrange it for you, the group usually go out together most nights, but we also understand that people need a good night’s sleep, so we make sure the party has left the building by late o' clock so you can get your well deserved rest too.

We also know what it is like traveling on a backpacker’s budget which is why we have sought out all the places you can eat drink, and visit on the cheap.. anywhere we recommend will be places we can afford to go to as well and we will try and save you money wherever possible, we have even negotiated free drinks and offers at local places for our guests!

We have a fully operating tours desk, which doesn’t mean a soulless face behind a desk, it means finding out what you wanna do, and getting it sorted for you; from cheap opera tickets, caving tours, walking tours, pub crawls (with 2 in house pub tour guides…we have done the research for you), day trips to places in Hungary, trips to the thermal baths… you name it, and we will organise it for you, if not come along too.

The hostel itself is newly renovated small apartment with an intimate layout in an 100 year old house and has all the character and personal touches you could want from a hostel, loads of communal space with bean bags and a bespoke made corner sofa to chill out on, murals painted on our walls by up and coming UK artists, a huge painting of Budapest with all our favourite places marked on. Our setup means it is impossible not to meet everyone who is staying here, we try an introduce you to your new friends here!

As well as all of this, we are perfectly located, no, really! We are tucked away on a quiet well-lit cobbled street just a few steps from the nearest pubs, bars, restaurants, clubs, shops, shopping malls. Public transport couldn’t be easier (although you should be walking everywhere), we are located between the blue and orange metro lines, we have a trolley-bus route on our doorstep and the world’s busiest tram route is at the bottom of the road! We have a direct link from the airport, as we are just 2 streets from Nyugati station and metro stop and from Keleti station (the international train station) so getting to us should be a lot easier than leaving us!

Within 10 minutes walk you can see the sights such as:
The Danube
Margit Island
Parliament
St Stephen’s Basilica
House of Terror
Oktogon
Everything else is easily reachable on public transport, we will advise of the easiest, most efficient and cheapest routes.

We want everyone to understand why we love it here so much, so if you feel you want to meet people and actually FEEL Budapest rather than tick boxes on a sight seeing chart, then come and stay with us!

We should also note though that our hostel is not suitable for people who want a quiet isolated stay. We are not a party hostel but we are extremely sociable and want our guests to meet each other. If you prefer to just have a bed and a room in a quiet environment, our place is probably not for you. We also need to stress that we do not accept stag do or similar groups.

We are best suited for single travelers and small groups. Due to experience, we are afraid that we cannot accept bookings for people over the age of 40, and hope you appreciate that. We also have 100 stairs and no lift so if you are a lazy traveler, you may want to choose someone else.... if you want to know what fun is at the top of the stairs... come in!!

P.s. Our staff are from England and Australia who occasionally miss certain things form home. If you can think of anything to bring out which would put a smile on our faces (or potentially knock a Euro or two off your stay) please email us!
